Taichi and Qigong

Taichi and Qigong

Our club offers Taichi and Qigong in a separate series of lessons. Both are very complementary with Aikido. Both in terms of health and the kind of relaxed, effective Aikido that we aim for as a club. In addition to our regular series of lessons, we also try to invite a guest teacher every year. For example, we welcomed a number of times Jesse Tsao. Qigong, which aims at cultivating life energy, has been part of Chinese culture for more than 4,000 years. Our club also offers Taichi and Qigong lessons, in cooperation with Yu Pei.

Impact on health

Qigong is mainly practiced to improve health. It combines slow, flowing movements with deep breathing. These seemingly simple exercises have a beneficial effect on our body and mind. Taichi en Qigong , Yang & Ying. It is also the basis of Taichi, an ‘internal’ martial martial art. Here, too, the health aspects are central. Taichi strengthens muscles and joints, increases suppleness and is very relaxing. Every movement performed has a certain purpose. In contrast to the current fitness craze that emphasizes fast, powerful movements, we use slow, well-thought-out movements within Taichi. A number of clinical studies (for example) have already proven that this will lead to a fitness level that is comparable with other sports. Due to the nature of the movements Taichi is also very suitable for the elderly.

Experienced teacher

Our club also offers Taichi and Qigong lessons, in cooperation with Yu Pei. Yu Pei received Taichi-Qigoung training from master Hsiung Wei. Hsiung Wei has developed its own simplified form of taichi, namely taichi dao yin. Taichi dao yin is therefore also very accessible to beginners. The basic concept of his education was how natural breathing and movement actually are, something that we as Westerners have somewhat lost. Bu using simple movements, such as balancing and turning, as a practitioner you discover, as it were, ‘more consciously’ your own body, your own energy and ‘chi’. Yu pei’s exercises balance your mind, mind and body. Simple, just like nature itself. The lessons take place every two weeks, on a Saturday each time from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Price per lesson: about 9 €. Prior knowledge is not required. If you wish to participate, just drop by. Wear comfortable clothing. You can find exact dates of the lessons on our calendar.
